A pedicure is a relaxing and luxurious option when your feet need some tender loving care. One of the most enjoyable parts of the pedicure experience is the soak, when your feet are left in the warm soothing water to relax and rest.
The term of pedicure comes from Latin word pedis, meaning of the foot. Cura means in the care of. Put it together and we have the word Pedicure, or the care of the feet.
Pedicures are generally performed in salons or spas, by professionally trained manicurists. The finishing touches include removing calouses, and applying nail polish for women’s pedicures. For men the final touch may be buffing the nails for a natural, healthy gloss.
Pedicure bowls are one of the most important tools used by the person providing the pedicure. While some salons may utilize the large foot baths that also provide a massage chair and jets for circulation, some professionals prefer to use a portable bowl in which a foot can be easily inserted for the soaking process. In some instances this tool is necessary if the manicurist works in more than one location, and must provide his/her own implements.
